Supatoon – Animated Pet Magnets, Greeting Cards, Painting and Designs by Sandra K. LaPorte – Kansas City Pet Photography

I am a huge advocate for promoting small pet-related businesses and when I find someone with unmistakable talent, I am compelled to help them market and grow their fan base. I stumbled across Supatoon and fell in love with the adorable and original characters created by Sandra K. LaPorte. Of course I was interested in her Schnauzer magnets and Remington easily obliged to help model them. It didn’t take much – I just had to bribe him with treats.

About Supatoon

Supatoon began with a set mini bookmarks and magnets, inspired by Sandra’s Whippet puppy.  She grew up hoping to become an animator and was an avid cartoon lover.  Over the years, she sold artwork as prints and created custom designs, however her turning point was during an afternoon when she studied her energetic Whippet puppy running around the house. She turned to her tablet and drafted up a few designs. Over time, more designs were added to create a colorful line of fun and whimsical characters – from French Bulldogs, Dachshunds and Weimaraners to endearing Owls and Koala Bears.  All of Sandra’s creations are completely original and handmade. You can find Sandra at the below sites. Tell her Remington sent you!

I have recently teamed up with Kathleen Henn of KC Pet Magnets. She creates handmade magnets which feature pet photos adhered to a  creative distressed painted surface.  Magnets are circular and are 2-1/4″ in diameter.  For info on how to order a magnet using any of these photos (or one using your own photo), please send an e-mail to kcpetmags@gmail.com.  You can also find her on Facebook where additional breeds appear. If you don’t see your particular breed of choice, you can make a request. Stock photo magnets are $16 and custom photo magnets are $20.

Noteworthy Facts:

  • Free from atmosphere-destroying aerosols
  • Contains only non-toxic materials
  • All magnets are hand-painted
  • Fourteen thin coats of varnish are brushed on by hand, not sprayed

Bonus – if you are local to Kansas City, the magnets will also be available by mid-March 2013 in the boutique at Kennel Creek Pet Resort, located in Overland Park, KS. (www.kennelcreek.com).

I may be partial – but my favorite is the Schnauzer-themed one featuring my Remington!

Rest in Peace Sweet Barclie – Kansas City Going with Grace Memorial Pet Photography

I truly believe everything in life happens for a reason, including when people are led to have their aging or ill pets photographed by me. Barclie, at age 14, began having seizures shortly after his session with me a couple weeks ago.  He recently crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully when his Mom made the heartbreaking decision to let him go and be free from his pain.

All pets that I photograph who cross the rainbow bridge are immediately honored on my pages. Their personalized photo is posted on this Facebook page and also on the “in memory” photo galleries on my main website and Going with Grace website.  A Going with Grace session is not just a photo shoot. It is a celebration of your pet’s life and can be a source of peace, comfort and closure. My wonderful Facebook community of pet lovers also share your pain and wholeheartedly offer their condolences, similar experiences and love with you. If your pet is aging or terminally ill, please consider having a professional document their memory forever. I promise you will not regret that decision.  Thank you to everyone who has chosen me to document your pets. I am honored to be a part of your lives.

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
“It’s me, I haven’t left you, I’m well, I’m fine, I’m here.”
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I’m not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said “it’s me.”
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It’s possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, “I never went away.”
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew
… in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over… smile and watch you yawning
and say “goodnight, God bless, I’ll see you in the morning.”
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I’ll rush across to greet you and we’ll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out…then come home to be with me.
