Radio personality Jenny Matthews of Mix 93.3 is one of the sweetest people I know. I met her a few years ago when I learned of her sweet boxer Tyson’s debilitating condition and knew I must photograph him before he crossed the rainbow bridge. Since then, I have photographed her and her new boxer pup for Kansas City Fitness Magazine and when she brought her adorable little girl into the world – I knew I wanted to capture the bond Julianne has with her puppy.
This was a surprise photo shoot for Jenny’s husband and let me tell you – he did not make it easy for us to keep this a secret! We battled weather conditions and even had to reschedule when he showed up at their home early on the day of the photo shoot because of an invisible fence being installed. Eeeek! Good thing I am persistent because although we had to reschedule on a cloudy, dreary day, I made it work. It was our last chance to complete the session so he could have a personalized album on his birthday! Mission accomplished – photo shoot completed, kiddos cooperated without too much of a breakdown and Jenny’s husband received his surprise album (on time) dedicated to him from his babies.
Photo shoots with dogs can be difficult – add in a kiddo and it’s even harder to get the right shot and capture the perfect moment – I try not to really pose my subjects, but just capture them in their element as they would act on any given day. All of the photos you see here were not posed at all. We put Oscar and Julianne up on the bed together – and that was the extent of “posing” because they certainly didn’t stay in one place for too long!
Can we go outside yet????
Thank goodness! I love the outdoors – now if we both do this pouty face, will you give us more treats?
Here you go Oscy Boo —- a doggy treat for my bestest friend.
Ooooooh! Mommy busted out the sweet tarts!!!
Here… hurry up… take it.. maybe she wont notice. But you owe me!!!
