I’ve made it to 32 weeks! September 10 is getting closer. Keep reading to learn the latest in my pregnancy journey, see our amazing 3D sonogram photos and my favorite items for a baby registry.
Baby size: A squash. About 17 inches long and 4 lbs.
Maternity clothes: Nope. I am still buying comfy dresses and elastic waist shorts in my regular department. I can’t stand the thought of investing in a maternity wardrobe that will be so short lived! I’ve had to get a little creative with my outfit choices, but it’s worked out well so far.
Sleep: I don’t think I have much to worry about in the area of adjusting to lack of sleep when she makes her grand arrival. I wake up about every 2 hours each night out of discomfort or having to go to the bathroom. The body is quite amazing in preparing you for what’s to come!
Discomfort level: I find it extremely hard to get comfortable these days. My lower back and hips ache if I sit or lay for too long. I feel the best when I am active, mowing the yard or walking. Great for staying fit while pregnant but sometimes I just want to lay down and do nothing and that’s when aches and pains hit me the most. I also find it difficult to take deep breaths since I am running out of room in my lungs as she continues to grow.
3D Sonogram: I highly recommend the 3D sonogram! It’s definitely a luxury, but totally worth it in my opinion. It was the most amazing thing to see our daughter and her expressions. She is full of character already which made everything seem more real. We were also told she has a ton of hair already which I am super excited about. I had a full head of black hair when I was born, so I am picturing her carrying on that gene. It was comforting to see how she is positioned (already head down!) and that she is healthy and active. Jeanette of Prenatal Imaging in Kansas City was fabulous, patient and made us feel right at home. She posts a lot of fun pics on her Facebook page too.
Best tips: I am one to immerse myself into reading and educating myself when it comes to uncharted territory. There are so many things for an expecting mother to learn, but I’ve found it so helpful to read online forums, The Bump and BabyCenter resources and our childbirth classes at Olathe Med have been anxiety-reducing as well. It helps that by nature I am constantly organizing and planning ahead as well.
Top items to put on a baby registry: After reading countless websites, I’ve added and removed various items from our registry multiple times. I think I’ve narrowed it down to the necessities and some luxuries. Here are some of my favorites based on what I’ve read and heard from others:

32 weeks! Starting to show more now. Remington is along for the ride each week.
She was insistent on trying to fit her fist into her mouth. This cracks me up that she has so much personality already.
She wouldn’t stop burying her face into me, so it was hard to get a perfect shot of her face, but at the very end we managed to capture her beautiful nose and lips.
The sonographer pushed on her pretty hard to coax her into un-burying her face. This was her reaction.
Striking a nice modeling pose already. She must already know Mommy is a photographer who can’t wait to capture her!
